Texas weather

Direct summer sun destroys outdoor kitchens faster than anything else — it cooks appliance electronics, fades finishes and makes the space unusable at exactly the time of year you want it. Positioning the kitchen under cover, or building a cover as part of the project, is usually the highest-value decision in the design. Freeze protection for water lines is the second.

Maintenance

Cover or clean the grill after use, seal stone countertops on the schedule the material calls for, blow out or insulate water lines before a hard freeze, and rinse salt and food acids off stainless promptly to prevent pitting.

FAQ

Common questions

Does an outdoor kitchen need to be covered?
It does not have to be, but in North Texas a cover dramatically extends how often the space is used and how long the appliances last. Many of our clients build the cover and kitchen together.
What utilities are required?
Most kitchens need electrical, and many add gas and water. The distance from existing connections is one of the larger cost variables in the project.
Can you match the house?
Yes. Veneer, stucco and stone are commonly matched to the home's exterior so the kitchen reads as part of the house.
Do you supply the appliances?
Appliance selection is part of the design conversation, and the detailed quote spells out exactly what is included.
How do I protect it from freezing weather?
Water lines need to be drained or protected before a hard freeze. We will walk you through the shutdown steps for your specific build at the final walkthrough.
